When IPTV stops working, the cause is almost always one of four things: your internet connection, your login details, the player app’s settings or the device itself. Start with the quick checklist below. It solves most problems in a few minutes. If it doesn’t, find your exact problem in the list of ten common issues.

Quick checklist: try these first
- Restart your router (unplug it for about 30 seconds) and your TV, stick or box.
- Check that other apps or websites work on the same device.
- Check your login details for typos and extra spaces.
- Update the IPTV player app and your device software.
- Try a different channel, and if possible a different device.
10 common IPTV problems and their fixes
1. “Login failed” or “invalid credentials”
Copy and paste the username and password from your email instead of typing them. They are case-sensitive. With an Xtream Codes login, the server URL must include http:// and the port number if one is listed. See M3U vs. Xtream Codes for details.
2. The playlist or channel list won’t load
Large lists take time on the first load, so wait a minute. If nothing appears, re-enter the M3U link (it must be complete) or switch to an Xtream Codes login. Clearing the app cache can also help.
3. The picture freezes or keeps buffering
This is usually your home network. Use Ethernet or 5 GHz Wi-Fi and pause large downloads. All the steps are in 7 tips to fix IPTV buffering, and this guide shows how much speed you need.
4. Black screen but you can hear sound
This points to a video decoding issue. In the player’s settings, switch between hardware and software decoding (sometimes called “HW” and “SW” decoder) and restart the channel. Updating the app often helps too.
5. Picture but no sound
Check the audio track option in the player while a channel is playing. If you use a soundbar or AV receiver, set the device’s audio output to a format it supports (for example PCM instead of passthrough) and see if the sound returns.
6. The TV guide is empty or shows the wrong times
Reload the EPG in the app and check your device’s time zone. Wrong times usually need an “EPG time offset” adjustment. Read What is an EPG? for step-by-step fixes.
7. “Max connections reached”
Your plan allows a set number of screens at the same time. Close the app completely on other devices (not just pause it) and wait a minute. Need more screens regularly? See IPVario’s multi-screen plans.
8. The app crashes or is very slow
Clear the app cache, free up storage by removing unused apps, and restart the device. If it continues, uninstall and reinstall the player, then sign in again. Our Firestick guide shows where to clear the cache on a Fire TV Stick.
9. Some channels work, others don’t
A single channel can be temporarily unavailable. Note the channel name and the time, try again later, and let support know if it keeps happening.
10. It worked yesterday but not today
Check whether your internet provider has an outage, and check your plan’s end date: IPVario plans don’t renew automatically, so the service stops when your plan period ends. Renewing is as simple as choosing a new plan.
When to contact support
If the problem continues, contact IPVario support and include:
- your device and the player app you use,
- what exactly happens, including any error message (a photo of the screen helps),
- which channels are affected and since when.
With those details we can usually find the cause quickly. Setting up a new device instead? Follow our guides for Samsung and LG Smart TVs, Android TV and Google TV, iPhone and iPad or PC and Mac.
