Setting up IPTV on a Samsung or LG Smart TV takes about 5–10 minutes: install an IPTV player from your TV’s app store, enter the login details from your IPVario welcome email and wait for the channel list to load. You don’t need an extra box. This guide walks you through each step and covers the problems people run into most often.

Smart TV with a play button: setting up IPTV on a Samsung or LG TV

What you need before you start

Step 1: Connect your TV and update its software

Connect the TV to your router with an Ethernet cable if you can; otherwise use your fastest Wi-Fi network. Then check for a software update. On most Samsung TVs you’ll find it under Settings › Support › Software Update; on most LG TVs under Settings › General › About This TV or Support. Menu names can differ slightly per model year. Up-to-date software avoids many app and playback issues.

Step 2: Install an IPTV player

On a Samsung Smart TV

Press the Home button on your remote, open Apps, use the search icon to look for an IPTV player and select Install. Once it’s installed, you can add it to your Home screen for quick access.

On an LG Smart TV

Press the Home button, open the LG Content Store (called Apps on newer models), search for an IPTV player and select Install.

Which players are available depends on your TV model and region. If your TV doesn’t offer a compatible player, a Fire TV Stick is an easy alternative. See our guide on how to set up a Firestick for IPTV.

Step 3: Sign in with your IPVario details

Most IPTV players offer two ways to sign in:

Not sure which method to use? See M3U vs. Xtream Codes.

Type the details carefully. They are case-sensitive, and an extra space at the end is a common reason for a failed login. Many players also let you scan a QR code or enter details via your phone, which saves typing with the remote.

Step 4: Load the channels and the TV guide

The first time you sign in, the app downloads the channel list and TV guide. This can take a minute. After that, you can browse categories, mark favorite channels and open the guide to see what’s on now and next. If the guide stays empty, read What is an EPG?

Troubleshooting common problems

The app says “login failed”

Check for typos and extra spaces, and make sure the server URL is entered exactly as in your email, including http:// and any port number. Still not working? Contact IPVario support and we’ll check your account.

Channels load but keep buffering

Buffering is usually caused by the home network, not the TV. Our article IPTV buffering? 7 tips to fix it explains what to check first.

I can’t find an IPTV player in the app store

Some (especially older) TV models have a limited app selection. In that case, a Fire TV Stick or Android TV box plugged into the HDMI port is the simplest solution.
